Grandmother Rescues Baby From Fire in Revere

Vera De Angelus aged 3 of 245 Revere Street Revere was saved from death by burning yesterday by her grandmother Mrs Joseph Vircindia who suffered severe burns to arms and hands. The child played with matches igniting her clothing and ran into the street. The grandmother acted quickly catching the child and rolling her in a rug despite injuries.

Boston Globe Reporter Guy Newhall Laid to Rest in Dedham

Funeral services for Guy F. Newhall, 18 years with the Boston Globe, were held at his Dedham home neighborhood. The Rev. Francis L. Whittemore officiated at St. Pauls Episcopal Church with soloist Elsa Thielscher of Roslindale singing Lead Kindly Light and Beautiful Isle of Somewhere. Interment followed in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.

V. V. Ioffe of St Petersburg a member of the Russian nobility conducted a week long inspection of Vermont granite plants and quarries. He has studied American mining methods for two years and previously visited major mines in the United States Mexico and Canada.

Monkey on the Run From Isthmian Commission Member

Dr. Gorham returned from Panama with Jocko a three month old white faced monkey. The pet escaped from his dining room and led a chase through Hastings and Park streets ending with 14 year old Martin Sawyer rescuing the animal from a tree after a climb and chase.

Trusties Escape Jailers From Portsmouth Naval Prison

Two prisoners Lewis J. Trider and Donald C. Cushing both trusties escaped shortly after 3 am from the United States naval prison in Portsmouth New Hampshire. They locked doors on departure and swam to Clark's Island before being recaptured later that afternoon by officers Patrick Deery and George Knott.

A romance sparked at a Milford baseball game three years ago ends Wednesday when Miss Lucy Madden of South Framingham marries Thomas J. McKenna of Hyde Park. The couple met as Milford faced Hyde Park in a tense ninth inning, when McKenna starred as pitcher and Madden cheered across the stands.

Feast of Maria Della Lettera Observed by Italian Community

Italian residents of the South End marked the Feast of Maria Della Lettera with a 500-strong parade led by a brass band from the Church of the Lady of Pompei along Harrison avenue to Broadway extension and Washington street, returning to the church. Evening illuminations on Harrison avenue used 5000 electric lights and Japanese lanterns, followed by a concert at Decatur street and Harrison avenue.
