City ratifies nominations in joint convention

Newport reports the city government ratified the city officer nominations in a joint convention. Admiral Porter and the secretary of the navy are due to visit Coasters' Harbor island mid July. Navy officers took over the large hospital building there for use as a naval training station. Fraudulent IRS stamp schemes tied to beer reports

In Portland on June 7 a meeting of the Maine Ship Owners and Ship Masters association completed its organization and adopted by laws. Capt. G C Goss of Bath presided and urged district auxiliary groups. Committees were named and future plans set. the next annual meeting will be in Bath.

East Haven Company Considers East Laven Estate Purchase

A Tuesday forenoon meeting in room 27 Simmons boarding, led by Hon. Josiah Quincy, recommended purchasing the East Laven estate for 500000. The group voted to fix capital stock at 750000 and open public subscriptions, with James Alexander, Edward A. White, and N. C. Munson appointed to manage. The meeting adjourned for one week.
