Colonel John G. Healy a Civil War veteran with the Ninth Connecticut Volunteer Regiment and later a noted Irish patriot died at his New Haven home at 67. Healy planned Irish uprising against England and was jailed in Britain before Secretary Seward secured his release. England initially balked claiming British subject status. Healy returned to the United States and pledged to refrain from violence.
George W. Mudgett a 70 year old Roxbury real estate operator was held at pistol point and robbed of 100 dollars in a Dudley street apartment. He had been summoned by a call in the name of Julius Baker and went to a room where a dark young man in a blue suit and golf cap awaited the supposed father a Boston wool merchant.
After a delay the father and son did not arrive and Mr. Mudgett began to leave suggesting they call at his office to arrange renting the house.
Police under Sergeant Gaillac raided Chelsea kitchens and stores after the dry period. At 112 Everett avenue basement they seized a quart of whiskey and 22 empty bottles from David Lewis. Stores at 119 and 122 Everett avenue yielded whiskey. 123 Spruce street, occupied by Harry and Rebecca Cohen, produced 42 bottles of beer and a quart of whiskey.
Louisiana Piette of 8 Austin Street Lowell died today after 82 days of near unconsciousness. She had four prior similar episodes, the longest about 80 days. Earlier sleepings were broken by electric treatment administered by physicians.

Alfred Farlow, head of the Christian Science Church publication committee, released a letter by Mrs Della M Gilbert former church leader in Brooklyn demanding 5000 from Mrs Eddy. He also attested Mrs Eddy remains in good health and active head of the church. The dispute centers on Mrs Gilbert’s original claim that Mrs Eddy was dead or a mindless puppet.

A group of 25 Yale students clashed with a trolley crew bound from Savin Rock to New Haven. Five Yale men lay unconscious on the lawn before West Haven Town Hall after a blackjack attack by Frank Fisher, a Connecticut Company car starter.
A riot erupted near West Haven town hall as Yale students attacked a railroad crew. Fisher and two railroad workers were assaulted while restraining four Yale men who were later jailed in the lockup with two others bonded. The incident drew Chief Loomis and will be heard in town court tomorrow.
In Woburn at 11 15 tonight a car from Melrose jumped tracks at Broad Street and Montvale Avenue and crashed into a tree. Twenty two passengers were shaken up and bruised while Herbert McDonald of 23 Jones Court was thrown into the street and Patrick O'Brien of High Street was injured internally. The rear end of the car sustained heavy damage.
Louis Cohen of Buffalo leaps into the Niagara river to save his wife who leapt from near Second and Third Sisters Islands. He clung to her as the current swept toward the falls, but the force of the water and a tree stump thwarted their rescue. Mrs. Cohen died in her husband’s arms despite his desperate efforts.
Mrs Cohen drowned after leaping into the river as Cohen clung to life. Officer James Martin and Rep James S Simons led a rope rescue with three others but fell short. Son’s wife died in his arms. Cohen recovered while rescue efforts continued and the body was recovered near Goat Island.
Little Doris Maloney, daughter of Mrs. Clara Maloney, died from burns suffered when a veil ignited from a candle during a church procession at St. James Catholic Church. The accident occurred Friday and she had been hospitalized for two days.
In Mandeville on Lake Pontchartrain four women two children and many others drowned when the excursion steamer Margaret listed and the wharf collapsed throwing about 75 people into the lake near New Orleans. Heroic rescues followed as the tragedy unfolded.
