Curious constitutional tangle leaves New Hampshire without governor
Manchester June 6 The New Hampshire constitutional question centers on Section 66 and the timing of the annual elections. With no governor elected on the first Wednesday in June and Legislature adjourned beyond day to day limits, disputes arise over whether the President of the Senate can fill the office. Debate notes that Weston’s term may expire within a year and that quorum rules complicate proceedings as Sanborn’s Democratic Senate holds seven members. Concord reports an official communication to Speaker Charles P. Sanborn regarding the Senate matter.
