Doctor Hartman states contagion enters via the mucous membrane which remains protected when healthy. Catarrh weakens this barrier and Peruna is promoted as the best remedy for catarrh and stomach troubles. Readers are urged to request a free catarrh book and write for Dr. Hartman’s guidance.
The Suffolk County grand jury toured Deer Island visiting the House of Correction, hospital wards, workshops, and bake house aboard the police boat Guardian. They inspected the entire institution for four hours, ending with a banquet in honor of the visitors and a return trip on the Putnam Bradlee. Old Mary Griffin, a longtime inmate, drew remarks as the star prisoner with a long history on the island.
George B Blake aged about 74 died in Milford after a sudden heart attack.
