Report stage at political convention with Orr support

Mr Loring of Massachusetts urged immediate reporting by the Committee on Permanent Organization. Ex Gov Orr of South Carolina praised Gerrit Smith and pledged his state for the ticket. Orr defended the Grant administration, condemned Ku Kluxism, and asserted the laws were fairly enforced. Governor Oglesby.

Typo Graphical Union Chooses Montreal for Meeting

The International Typo graphical Union selected Montreal as the next annual meeting site with Boston as runner up. A resolution condemns religious and political sentiments as job qualifications and urges Congress to abolish the Government office while admitting female printers on equal terms. An amendment to discontinue chartering female unions and removing the word male was carried over for a year. Delegates plan a Petersburg visit after a secret session and tributes for Chicago relief.
