London rejoices as Boer representatives sign surrender terms at 10 30 p m in Pretoria. Lord Milner and Lord Kitchener attend. cablegram from Pretoria dated May 31 reports the document was signed, sparking celebrations, bells, and thanksgiving services across the city.
Professor Angelo Heilprin, president of the Philadelphia Geographical Society, ascends the Montagne Pele crater with three guides. From Fort de France the expedition, organized by United States Consul Ayme, observed a vast crevice and a central cinder cone as violent steam explosions raged below.
The French commission sent by President Loubet to attend the unveiling of Count Rocchambeau statue at Yorktown ended yesterday. The three commissioners completed their duties, acknowledging the role of Rocchambeau who commanded 7000 French troops aiding General Washington in the American victory and independence.
