Cambridge Gas faces possible strike after union meeting
Cambridge Gas Light Company may be shut down by a threatened strike following a Cambridge Central Labor Union gathering last night. About 250 Gas House Workers Union members will meet today to decide action to press demands linked to the discharge of William J. Dowling, a 11 year collector, who was fired after a DUI conviction and appeals, with union support failing to win reinstatement. President Carl S. Barnes defends the dismissal as for good cause saying Dowling’s high daily takings and conduct made him unfit.
