Retaliation Thought By President On Canada Railways

The administration contemplates a response to Canadian railways over perceived discourtesies to Americans in Newfoundland fisheries and Behring Sea. Privileges of the Canadian Pacific may be withdrawn while lines still carry goods to New England. Actions aim to aid American rail and elevator interests without harming trade, with Cabinet support and Treasury input. The President also backs Maine district politics by nominating two customs collectors aligned with Mr Reed to bolster his margin.
