Uniformity Pact Adopted by Pittsburg Coal Operators
The Pittsburg district coal operators adopted a 21 section uniformity agreement after two days of talks. A five member signing committee plus General John Little will seek signatures from operators aided by the Ohio Board of Arbitration. The plan includes cash wages, 2000 pounds per ton, abolition of company stores, semi monthly pay days, uniform mining rules, and a 10 cent per ton penalty for violators with proceeds shared among signers. The agreement becomes effective only if 9 percent of operators sign by January 1, 198.

Partial Eclipse Draws Quiet Interest at Local Observatory
Observers at the hilltop observatory show little excitement as a partial solar eclipse is expected to begin at 8 53 in the morning and last two hours and seventeen minutes. Professor Pickering notes no scientific value in this event and says they will observe only out of curiosity, anticipating total eclipses in the coming centuries with limited visibility in the United States.
