Escape From Collision On Salem and Lowell Line
A Saturday noon passenger train escaped serious accident on the Salem and Lowell road when box freight cars on a depot side track were run down by a freight on the main, obstructing the switch. The engine cab was torn off and the end of a car broken, but no one was injured despite a sudden and startling crash. Engineer Mr Hand expressed surprise at the sudden danger.
