Soldier seeks revenge after New Bedford car assault
Conductor Mamuel Smith of Union Street Railway Company refused a Battery A, Seventh Artillery soldier from riding a street car at Fort Rodman. On the next trip the soldier named London and four companions boarded, smashed a door, and assaulted the conductor as a sentry with a bayoneted gun blocked the motorman from aiding. Smith swore out a warrant for London's arrest.
