New Haven Massachusetts? No, New Haven Conn July 26 Mrs Mary Ann Keasham longtime housekeeper to Henry F Porth was found dead in the kitchen. Matthew Winn a cousin of the deceased and his wife near the home had quarrels and drink issues. Mrs Winn told police of the death and her husband said she killed Mrs Keasham. Medical examiner found bruises not fatal. Coroner investigates.
A vast log jam on Grand River near Grand Rapids triggered the collapse of the Detroit and Grand Haven bridge and the Grand Rapids and Indiana and Chicago and West Michigan bridges. Millions of logs swept downstream toward Lake Michigan threatening further destruction and extensive losses, feared to reach many hundreds of pesos of dollars.

About 2000 people attended the eighth annual picnic of the St Marys Young Mens Catholic Temperance society of Charlestown district at Lake Waldengrove. Winners were named in baseball, running, jumping, racing, and other events. Dancing continued with Dunbars orchestra. an 80 prize lottery was held. woods around the grove caught fire but were contained with no serious damage.
At the harbor and land commission meeting on Thursday, a petition from Boston Gaslight Co. seeks leave to extend its pile wharf on the Charnel river. Licenses granted to Stearns Lumber Co. to extend wharves on the Neponset river, John P. Gilman to extend a Merrimac river wharf in Haverhill, and several Gloucester firms including Sylvanus Smith and Benjamin Low Co. to extend their wharves in that city.
A large crowd will board the Isles of Shoals voyage today as a favorite excursion. The Saturday trip departs at 9 30 to Provincetown with about an hour on shore. Sunday’s voyage heads out to the broad Atlantic for those wishing to extend their sea adventure.
In Highgrove Nelson county two farm laborers Daniel Wilkes a colored man and John McDougal a white man dueled with improvised pitchforks after a quarrel. Wilkes wielded a long-handled two pronged fork while McDougal had a short four pronged fork. Both were badly injured and likely to die.
The steamer Stamford proves popular among the best class of passengers in the harbor with no liquor sold on board. The Plymouth trip attracts many, and Stamford carried a full compliment on Thursday. Several excursions from Boston and nearby towns are planned for the coming week.
Milwaukee traders John D. Nuys Walter Hamilton and Martha B. Day of L B Day & Co dealers in carpets were arrested after a recent failure for about 70 000 and accused of obtaining 7 000 worth of goods under false pretences by the time of arrest in Milwaukee on July 26.
The 324 annual report of the Boston Young Men's Christian Association has been printed as an 80 page pamphlet. The cover features a print of the new building and the content includes verbatim reports of Rev. Gifford and Dean Baldwin addresses from the recent anniversary. A harbor excursion of the strikers followed, with meetings planned at Cadman hall, and internal tensions easing as a striker returned to work before rejoining the union.

Dickinson reunion planned at Amherst with 1060 invitations, while ex Senator John P. King of Georgia summers in North Carolina.
Syracuse July 26 Hanlan Lee and Hosmer raced at Fulton in a three mile regatta before 3000 to 5000 spectators. Lee finished first with Hosmer second and Hanlan third in a closely contested race. Time records show Hanlan 19 minutes 49 seconds, Hosmer 19 minutes 50 seconds, Lee 19 minutes 53 seconds amid smooth water and a light breeze.
Dorchester Yacht Club hosted the first of three catboat races off the club house. Queen Mab won the 19 feet and over class with 25m 58s, Thisbe, Amy, Joker and Elf also competed. Nora won the under 19 feet class with 1h 7m 32s on the same 7 mile course. A mosquito race for under 14 feet followed.

At Ottawa July 26 the Canadian amateur oarsmen announced that entry time for the Newark regatta would be extended as the Canadian association seeks its strongest team. A Toronto four-car senior’s victory yesterday earned representation at Newark on August 20 after a courtesy acknowledgment. The American rifle team visit Windsor and were hosted by Capt. Godsal after touring the castle.
The funeral was held at Brookline at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the First Unitarian Church. Before the services, prayer was offered at the house by Rev. Howard N. Brown. At the church Rev. Brown led the service with Rev. Dr. Stebbins of Newton Centre assisting, and the proceedings followed the regular pattern.

Horace B. Woosher, superintendent at Seymour Manufacturing, was crushed by falling timbers while supervising the removal of props for a new stone arch on Wednesday and died Thursday morning. In Waterbury, the Bronson family bound over for manslaughter after malpractice charges involving Caroline, with $300 bonds each, to await September term. An eagle nest on a spindie outside New London harbor has housed fish eagles for years. Norwich boy Frank Levin climbed the iron rod to the nest, 10 feet high, the first disturbance in years.

At Beacon Park and Pittsburg July meetings strong fields competed in 2:33 and 2:25 classes.
