Morton and Fallon land deal in Boston cemeteries case
In 1897 James H. Morton became cemetery superintendent at $2500 salary after Fallon motion. Morton and Fallon bought adjoining Mt Hope land, each paying half. Fallon conveyed his half to Morton in 1899 with repayment of half sale proceeds. Trustees later bought Morton's lots for $1121.22 and $9500 with low valuations. Morton paid Fallon $5305.44 after receiving a city check for $10,821.83 in 1901.

Mrs. Stephen Lawton of Willimantic Conn. died from a hemorrhage of the lungs two days out from Queenstown and was buried locally. Miss Rebecca Daniels of London died at sea at age 19 from convulsions and her body was shipped to South Lancaster after a passenger fund was raised.
