Priscilla Recovers Sibley Crew After Brigantine Sinks

The Nantucket catboat Priscilla found and rescued eight crew members from the abandoned brigantine H. G. Sibley of Boston. The vessel ran aground near Great Rip off shore at 1 am and began to sink. crew abandoned at 4:30 am with the cargo, 370 tons of soft coal, likely a total loss. Captain James M. Doane cited fog and a recent shoal lightship change for the mishap.

Explosion on Nutmeg State Steamer Kills Four at Bridgeport

A naphtha vapor explosion aboard the Nutmeg State at a South Street slip kills four men and injures several others. Theatre Blaze at Ramona Park Leaves Many Hurt

Panic erupted at the Casino summer theatre in Paducah Kentucky during a Ramona Park show when a fireworks display sparked a blaze. About 600 spectators fled as the tar covered building burned to embers, with unknown fatalities and numerous injuries to audience members and actors.

Wreck of Srihon Gana Near Malacca After Squall

Despatch from Singapore reports the steamer Srihon gana bound from Singapore to Malacca with 190 passengers wrecked in a squall off Malacca on June 19. One hundred twenty people including the captain were drowned. the rest were rescued by a passing steamer.
