Athol Cloudburst Causes Major Damage In Town

A cloudburst hit Athol at 2 30 p m lasting about an hour and causing at least 1500 in damage. School street suffered deep gullies and electric car service was halted for three hours as other streets and lawns were damaged. Residents say rainfall was unprecedented for the area with lakes rising six to eight inches and lightning nearby but no injuries or structural fires reported.

Vanderbilt Hurt as Auto Hits Wagon in Dust Cloud

Paris July 22 W K Vanderbilt Jr driving a small car on the Chartres road near St Arnould collided with a market wagon driven by a woman. Both were upset with Vanderbilt slightly injured in leg and arm and the woman’s face scratched. The auto was badly damaged. The crash was blamed on dust raised by the vehicle obscuring the wagon.
