Boston Wins as Staley Lessons Thornton in Derby
In a lively Boston versus Thornton skirmish, Staley’s mischief and Long's base running fueled a 6 to 4 Boston victory. Stovey and Kennett sparked hits while Nash homered to seal the win as Philadelphia’s defense frayed and Thornton reacted to the early chaos. The Nationals opened strong but faded after the second inning, and Boston rode a late seventh inning surge to triumph before 1,568 spectators.
