Warren School Board Debates Actions and Examinations

The Charlestown Board of School Committee held a semi monthly session led by Mayor Kent. They approved paying Miss Savage 4792 for faithful service in the TT and Warren schools as she resigns at term end. Bills totaling 29.95 were approved and a property committee was formed to discuss extra school accommodations. Bailey protests censures, insisting his actions were proper. The board set high school admission at 70 percent in arithmetic and 50 percent in other questions and authorized a male teacher for a three year commercial course at up to 2200 per year. Annual exhibitions for Warren, Bunker Hill, and Winthrop Grammar Schools featured songs and plays, with diplomas awarded to scholars.
