The Gealers fish pier received a varied catch from 26 boats including eight selmers six swordfish trips and 12 groundfish fares. New arrivals Lizzie M Stanley Conqueror Mary Emerson and Indiana reported mackerel counts totaling 84 000. Prices ranged 10 to 15 cents for larger and medium fish. The Aberdeen Athena from Boston and Schonfels from Calcutta brought notable cargo and a Lascar stoker incident occurred aboard the Schonfels. The port’s weekly commerce shows drops in exports and imports. The Juan arrived on maiden trip for United Fruit into Boston while other vessels sailed or were repaired.

In New Haven on July 20 Louis Jae nicke aged 18 sat on the prow of the yacht Neptune when a swinging boom struck him. He fell overboard and drowned, authorities reporting the fatal accident.

Despondent mother and two children found dead in East River
Gussie Benson 34 and her two children, a 4 year old boy and a 2 year old girl, disappeared from South Dakota earlier in the week.
