Stanch Patriots Call for Unity to Uphold Constitution Now

Civil War Area Controlled by Rebels by January 1863

In January 1862 Davis forces held about 750000 square miles from Harpers Ferry to Kentucky and Missouri. By January 1863 most of Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, two thirds of Arkansas, half of Tennessee, Louisiana and Texas were cleared. Vicksburg Port Hudson fall shifted troops east. Mississippi Arkansas Louisiana Texas deemed freed, Bragg expelled from Tennessee. Remaining rebel control mapped by state and square miles.
