Funeral of Mr Whitman in Groton Bank cemetery

John L. Whitman was buried Thursday afternoon in a small Groton Bank cemetery near the Thames River. Relatives and friends attended a brief service at his aunt Mrs Copp home, led by Rev Jared Avery, then read the burial service by the grave, praising his hopeful yet often disappointed life.
