Molloy Returns From Bermuda Boer Camp in Boston

Sergeant James L. Molloy of Lawrence, who fought for the Boers in South Africa and was prisoner in Bermuda, arrived in Boston last night after a remarkable war record. He served as Red Cross nurse and Irish brigade fighter, enduring capture, hardship, and international diplomatic interest before his release. He plans to visit family in Lawrence and is accompanied by supporters.

Auto Crash Injures Two in Medford

In West Medford a chauffeur for C. H. Smith of Haverhill fell ill, driving the car into a wall. Occupant Frank Barrett of Toledo, Ohio, suffered a fractured skull. The chauffeur and Barrett were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital and were listed in critical condition.

Brave Doyle brothers save girl from muddy brook

William Doyle 11 and his brother Charles 14 rescued 2½ year old Josephine Higgins from a quagmire brook at Forestdale Cemetery. The child fell in and sank, dogs tugging at her dress until the brothers retrieved her with parental alert.

Texas Sheriff Chides Swearer In Boston Visit

Hobson Rescues Girl From Mississippi River

Captain Richmond P. Hobson of the U S N saved Miss May Cerf from drowning opposite the Chautauqua grounds near Alton Illinois. Cerf fell from a yacht and Hobson, swimming nearby, caught her as she sank again and brought her aboard where she was resuscitated.

L switch tower gutted by fire at Keaney Square

Fire gutted the switch tower on the elevated road in Keaney Square at 3:15 AM from spontaneous combustion. Patrolman Cook of Station 1 alerted authorities and a box alarm was pulled. Despite the damage estimated at $500, L railroad workers believed the machines still allowed train operation.

Two Boston Girls Capsize Off Hull in Squall

Adelaide Hooper and her sister, daughters of James R. Hooper of the National Union Bank, nearly drowned when their Hull catboat capsized in a squall on Weir River. They clung to the keel until rescuers fetched them ashore at Hull Hill. Also reported, Frederick W. Sumter, 26, of Charlestown, drowned off Castle Island while sailing the yacht Leslie. his body remained missing late last night. He left home to work when the yacht trip began. Sumter’s death is under inquiry. his pockets reportedly held $15. He is survived by his mother, a brother, and a sister.

Death of Little Lester Kiff Crushed by Electric Car

Five year old Lester Kiff of Chelsea died after being crushed beneath the Boston and Northern Revere Beach electric car at the Broadway Washington avenue Bellingham street junction. Melrose man 71 arrested on old larceny charge

Edwin J. Coy of Melrose, 71, was arrested on a warrant from John J. Rink alleging larceny and obtaining 4500 dollars by false pretenses in 1898. Rink declined to discuss details. Coy was bailed on an $8000 bond.
