Playing Politics at City Hall Delays Board Appointments
A seven member Republican majority on the Board of Aldermen has theatrically delayed Mayor appointments since the year's start. They held up and rejected various confirmations to pressure concessions, a tactic seen as childish by the public. Yesterday they finally confirmed Andrew to the Park Commission and Doherty to the Water Board, a move overdue according to observers.

Seven Aldermen Delay City Wire Burial Program

Cambridge Sunday Ice Delivery Law Spark Debate
The piece argues against rigidly enforcing the Cambridge Sunday law by prohibiting ice delivery. It contends that laws should serve public welfare with reasonable administration, not burdensome strictness. Enforcing to the letter causes unnecessary public inconvenience and could provoke repeal efforts.

Land-Locked Racing Defeats Vigilant by Prince of Wales Yacht
The seventh defeat of the Vigilant by the Prince of Wales's yacht prolongs the monotony of results. Land-locked English courses favor the Britannia over the American Vigilant, with yesterday's three times repeated course highlighting twelve turns. The chronicle lacks dramatic interest, but American fans hope the Vigilant improves in the ocean races ahead.
