Vandalism in Egypt Draws Complaints from Letter Writer
Miss Mary Brodrick reports widespread desecration of Egyptian monuments during travels from Halfa to Luxor. She cites soldiers carving names at Aboo Simbel, a fire near an Osiride statue, hack marks on Isis at Philae, color loss, and debris at tomb entrances. The pen photos point to a French inspector copying inscriptions at Philen and careless tourists leaving bottles and litter at El Kab. Karnak and Luxor suffer neglect and poor temple guardianship.
