Cretic Crew Barred From Landing At Quarantine
At Commonwealth yesterday thirty five policemen and private detectives guarded the White Star steamship Cretic to keep its crew ashore. The crew refused a port physician order for a thorough scrub at Gallups Island and thus forfeited shore liberty while in port and on the voyage to New York. The delay kept the ship at quarantine for four days, costing $80,000 and delaying baggage and cargo.
