Pittsburg And Boston Battle In Low Scoring Game

The Pittsburgs defeated Boston 8 to 0 at the South End grounds in a dull contest witnessed by about 2000. No earned runs and only four hits, with Pittsburg scoring in the second inning on gifts. Chesbro pitched well for Pittsburgh, Nichols for Boston, and fielding was clean despite the minimal offense.

In the eighth inning a hard hit grounder stopped by third base and Ely threw out the batter at first. O'Brien popped a lazy hit to Tenney, Long made a quick play to deny Clark a hit, Tenney hit a long drive to left that Clark fielded away, Long was out at second on a throw by Ely.
