Led by Edward McGivern the married players clashed with single members in seven innings resulting in a 16 to 11 score for the singles. Daniel J. Coffey and John Hoar starred with a home run and a running catch amid lighthearted controversy. Dr Pendiel umpired without decisive rulings as John Broderick took a beaning and could be seen at home for two weeks.

Britannia won over Ailsa in a light southerly wind with Britannia securing the weather berth at start and finishing 9 minutes 25 seconds ahead. Times at Ascog were Ailsa 12 23 14 and Britannia 12 24 28 before the finish at 6 02 18 for Britannia and 6 11 38 for Ailsa.
The Defender and Vigilant will race next Saturday off Sandy Hook under New York Yacht Club auspices with two course options a triangular and a straightaway. The Silvia is named flagship as two or more starters contest for a 200 and 100 cup, wind permitting, amid detailed start signals and handicap rules.
Beverly Yacht Club held an open sweep stakes race off West Falmouth Harbor at 1 pm with 28 boats across six classes. Salmon led 30-footers Salmon and Ashumet raced 17 miles. Ashumet surged to a nearly five minute victory over Salmon after a five minute head start. Bernice Derts and Grilse earned notable work, judges were W L Jeffreys N H Emmons and H B Carruth.
SOUTH DENNIS July 13 Cape Cod Yacht Club hosts a close race for first and third between Addie and Eolipsa in the First Class division. The contest features a tight finish and strong sailing talent from the regional fleet.
Crowds gathered at Nobscasset Pier on a cloudy afternoon as a moderate southerly wind drove the sailing craft. The highlight was the tight 10 mile First Class race between Addie and Eclipse with enthusiastic Cape residents cheering the close duel.
The first Corinthian Yacht Club championship in Marblehead opened with no wind delaying the start and a thunder squall driving withdrawals. Twenty three boats started. Susie won Class II while Exit led Class III after delays and squalls. Tomahawk took Special Class cruisers, Maia won Class C, Mosca claimed Class B, and Katrina led in others as crews battled rain and gusty conditions along No. 3 and No. 7 courses toward Half Way Rock.
Yesterday afternoon the Savin Hill yacht races were halted by a gale that blew through and ended after 6 PM. First class 28-foot yachts began at 2:45 PM with Beatrice and Harbinger leading. Harbinger won. Second class featured Nike beating Hullo. third class saw Evandhe and Mist among entrants. fourth class led by Imp with Millet second. fifth class included Katy Did and Tantrum. three fourth-class boats capsized Sunbeam Alpine and Fantasy as the storm struck.
The Expert cup race at Lynn on July 13 saw few entrants due to threatening weather and light winds. The Black Cloud alone completed the seven mile course, finishing in 2:07:37 after a squall forced them to anchor briefly near Old Sunk. A separate five mile class for boats fifteen feet and under also faced squalls, with several boats unable to finish. Swan and R. Ouger and Laura Ulman are noted among finishers with times recorded, while C. M. Charles Mower and Florence John White did not finish. Judges were Frank Ingalls and W A Estes.

Carney’s crew won four paddle canoe three quarters of a mile in 4 minutes 50 seconds. Open canoe singles saw G B Churchill first and A G Smith second in 4 minutes 25 seconds. Walter S Coburn won the jump out race by default. Coburn and Carney won the tilting tournament with Paul Butler referee and judges Stickney Parker Jr Sherman.
The American Yacht Club opened its series with a first race in Newburyport on July 13 under light winds finishing in heavy rain. No boats entered the first class, while other classes saw modest participation and competitive results.
