St Louis edged Boston 4 3 in an eleventh inning thriller to salvage a victory in the series. Pitchers Jack Powell and Ted Lewis matched a sharp battle with Powell earning the win as McGann paced the Cardinals with a late homer and double by Burkett and Donovan helped spark the comeback. The Boston club left for Philadelphia after the heart breaking defeat, with Hugh Duffy set to join Saturday.
