President Theodore Roosevelt spends part of his Sagamore Hill vacation chopping locust logs to trim surplus flesh. He tows a brisk program of exercise and outdoor routines as Cabinet members and guests prepare to arrive.
Chelsea police arrest Wallace McRae 18 of Hast Rose ton on arson charges after a woman overheard a conversation among three youths the night of the blaze. The fire at D. A. O'Brien & Son stable on Front street spread to a timber wharf and caused property losses. McRae pleads not guilty, case set for July 17, bail set at 200. The police pursue two other youths as accomplices.
Haverhill July A seventeen year old girl May Epes has been missing for three weeks and her parents fear she left with Elmer Harriman the older mechanic who courted her. Police searched without result and it is believed Harriman sent money to lure her west to Wyoming.
Local forecast for Boston and vicinity calls for fair Saturday with slight temperature changes and westerly to southerly winds. Sunday remains generally fair with moderate temperatures and winds shifting from southwest to variable.

Thomas Miskell age 12 returned to Brookline after two weeks away. He says he followed his uncle’s milk wagon from Roxbury Crossing wandered through Dedham and Needham sleeping in a hay field before being found by his father on a Needham farm where he worked and earned four dollars. He promises not to stray again.
Capital Asahel Tannar, a wealthy East Norwich resident, is jailed on suspicion of fatally injuring Mrs. David Goldberg after a dispute over a hen coop. Goldberg, 45, mother of five, remained unconscious. Tannar is about 75 and a large real estate owner. A separate scene in Norwich as a runaway horse caused panic among 100 women and children. Patrolman Devine detained the horse and was injured but continued duty.
Policeman George C. Devine is praised for stopping a runaway horse and wagon on Ocean avenue this afternoon. He is credited with saving the limbs and lives of many women and children through his quick action.
In Lawrence on July 11 the Weavers Alliance held a mass meeting at Music Hall where Deputy Sheriff Abbott and Special Officer O Brasso f served injunction papers restraining leaders from intimidating American Woollen Company operatives. Sam J. French led the session before officials withdrew.
Two relief workers returning for a rest reported that 52 bodies were loaded on mine cars ready for removal at first light. The total dead now stands at 143 with a large portion of the danger section still unexplored.
