In PitrspurG on July 11, Jones & Laughlins of the American Iron Works and Gate City Iron Company of Gate City La signed an Amalgamated scale. Jones & Laughlins, employing about 5000 men, stand as one of the city’s largest manufacturers after Carnegie Kipps & Co. The report notes a lockout collapse and refers to the industry’s labor action.

In Chicago on July 11 a mob of about 200 striking Burlington and St Paul and Northwestern engineers disrupted a Burlington freight move in Kinzie street yards. The engine and cab were damaged, two crew injured, taken to county hospital. In Kansas City a boycott against Burlington cars began at 10 am with 25 strikers assaulting a new switchman, ongoing tensions and arrests pending.
Albany July 11 Coroner Murray empanels a jury to probe a Boston and Albany yard death in East Albany. Initial belief of a tragic mistake gives way to potential criminal negligence as facts suggest a worker may have caused the fatal injuries to a 60 year old woman who left a halted train and was dragged under wheels near the Hudson River crossing. The victim, identified tentatively as Mar Smith, died at St Peter's Hospital after leg injuries and a severed limb were treated.

By 3:30 the fire was controlled with local crews. losses include the hotel barns and several nearby buildings with total around 16 000 dollars and a 500 dollar reward offered for incipient arson detection.

Washington July 11 Dr Lincoln called on Mr Randall about seven o clock this evening and found him bright and cheerful in better condition than earlier in the day.
