Delegates Open Baltimore Convention with Session Move

Special Despatch notes delegates seated by 10 AM at the Baltimore convention. A second brass band in the upper gallery entertained with tunes including Dixie My Maryland and Yankee Doodle. Chairman Doolittle reassembled the body and Rev Dr Leyburn gave the opening prayer as rule announced for speakers to state their name and state. Mr Cabell of Arkansas requested five extra seats for Arkansas delegates, which was granted.

Convention Adopts Adjournment Plan and Honors Several Figures

On motion by Mr Heaton of Ohio a resolution stipulated that at adjournment the Convention would, with music, escort the New York and Missouri delegations to their quarters. A decision left the next meeting’s venue to the National Committee. Resolutions of thanks were passed to John T. Ford Frederick Raine and Baltimore for courtesies and to Chairman Doolittle for his impartial leadership.

Boulevard men plan Friday attack on Orangemen in New York

Report states that attackers from last year prepare a new onslaught on Friday. Police will be fully armed and mounted to clear mobs before the procession. A signaling system among police, military and fire authorities will enable rapid concentration. Authorities fear bloodshed despite claimed quiet, with signals for rapid response. ARREST FOR HEAVY ROBBERY Four men charged with robbing a Utrecht wealthy lady on the 24th ult of a quarter of a million in valuables were arrested here, with property valued at $160,000 recovered.
