Eastern delegates train wrecked near Lansing

A Grand Trunk Lehigh express carrying Eastern delegates from a Kansas City convention and Western delegates to Atlantic City derailed one mile west of Lansing. Several passengers were shaken, few injuries reported, as two day coaches and four sleepers left the track after a switch opened while the train ran at high speed. The cars lay within three feet of a nearby river.

Dying Woman Suspected of Suicidal Carbolic Acid Intake

Hazel Dingwell 22 of 91 Warren Ave is dying at City Hospital after reportedly taking carbolic acid on Warren Ave. She was with Cornelius McCall of 15 Mt Vernon St Dorchester when cramps began and was moved to hospital by Dr O F Cushing. She said she had taken the poison and thought of a Columbus Ave druggist. Doctors say she may live only a few hours.

Tragic Pittsburg Rail Crash Kills Two on Church Walk

In Pittsburg on July 8, a freight train split at a blind switch and crushed a group of churchgoers. Two people, Mrs Elizabeth Edwards and Thomas Morris, died at the scene and a third was seriously injured. Edwards suffered fatal injuries including severed legs and a crushed skull.

Injunction Granted Protecting Moxie Trade Dress Across Maine

The Supreme Judicial Court of Maine grants an injunction to Moxie Nerve Food Co. of New England preventing defendants Provost & Vincent Berry & Upton and J G Chabot from selling or distributing any liquid or bottle resembling Moxie Nerve Food. The decree requires delivery of all infringing cases to the complainant's agent and awards taxable costs of fifteen dollars. The order follows continued investigations into imitations of the temperance beverage sold nationwide.
