Skirmish at Great Falls and Allied Dispatches

Intelligence from Col. Gerhard's District of Columbia Volunteers reports two of his men killed and several wounded at Great Falls while Union and Confederate forces clashed near the Potomac. Major Taylor arrived at Arlington under a flag of truce with dispatches for President Lincoln, and the steamer Cambridge is being converted to a gunboat. Twenty-one New Yorkist regiment members were arrested for refusing arms and demanding rifles.
