Rent Drops Seen After Fewer Real Estate Transfers
Eugene C. Hultman, head of the Commission on the Necessaries of Life, predicts rents will fall in Massachusetts after fewer transfers in March to May this year. Registries show 12 020 transfers versus 16 312 last year, a 26.3 percent drop, with many buyers occupying properties. Other cities report 10 to 30 percent rent cuts already, suggesting Massachusetts will follow soon.
