Dull Independence Day in Memory of Oldest Inhabitants

Yesterday marked the dullest anniversary of Independence Day in decades with few public displays. Most residents spent the day on excursions and picnics while minor street violence occurred among the Black population, otherwise routine for the period. The Chicago Post Office received high praise from the Postmaster General for its management, described as better run than any visited by Gov. Jewell. The Black Hills segment follows with no additional detail.
