France Pays U S Tribute On Independence Day
In Paris on July 4, twenty thousand French orphans, children of war dead, marched past Ambassador Hugh C Wallace in the Tuileries dipping miniature American flags in tribute to the United States. Wallace called the ceremony impressive and spoke of France's future linked to soldiers led by Joffre. Wreaths were laid at Lafayette's Tomb in Picpus Cemetery as Paris wore flags on public buildings.
