Fire destroys North Main Street building and damages nearby properties
A three story rear building on North Main Street and adjacent structures were wrecked by a morning fire. Losses include Perry Blanchard’s furniture shop and Porters, with estimated damages ranging from fifteen to thirty thousand dollars per structure and substantial content losses for residents and businesses in the block. Local insurers and authorities investigated possible causes linked to fireworks.
