Rothamsted analyses show nitrogen in soil and the role of manure in freeing elements for immediate crop use, with grazing and feeding practices boosting long-term soil richness. A Chicago Breeders' Gazette summary likens the soil to a bank, manure the checks, and stock raising the source of funds. A. P. Butler cites the fifth annual report noting phosphate trade conditions.
