City of Washington case and other New York legal notes
This afternoon the Havana and Mexican Mail Steamship company sought a warrant for Collector Merritt on neglect of duty for refusing to clear the City of Washington due to unpaid fines of 21874 dollars. A second arrest claim charged extortion for clearance contingent on paying 218 74. The matter went to District Attorney Woodford. Also, Rev C D Heinrich was arrested for assault amid a seduction accusation. Mrs Brittania Sherman’s suit against Damel H Stone resulted in a 1200 dollar judgment for the plaintiff. John A Ritter shuns assignment schedules filed with liabilities of 115351. July coal prices for Lackawanna coal announced.
