Secretary of State John Hay died in Newbury New Hampshire after a brief relapse from pulmonary embolism. He passed away at 12 25 AM with his wife and physicians present after showing late day improvement.

Miss Beatrice Mildred Gunter daughter of Mrs. Adolphus B. Gunter of 1191 Beacon Street Brookline marries John Pomeroy Dabney II in Charlestown. The couple met two years earlier in the White Mountains while she studied at Abbott Academy and he at Harvard. They will reside in Seattle where Dabney plans to continue engineering work.
John Darcey aged 7 or 9, son of Mathew Darcey of 6 Eldridge Place Chelsea, was crushed under a city dray rear of the police station at 5 o clock last night. He was playing on the dray when the horses started, throwing him under the wheel. He rose, walked a few yards, fell, and died at Frost Hospital Chelsea shortly after arrival. Driver Thomas Burns had left a team while he carried goods up the station, and the accident occurred while one horse was absent.
Ten year old Mary O'Brien along with her sister Kitty fled a man who grabbed Mary on June 12 near Juniper Street and Washington Street in Brookline around 9 PM. The girl sought help in an apothecary shop as clerks called for safety while witnesses reported the incident.
In Colbrook New Hampshire a five year old boy playing with matches started a hay barn blaze. His mother Mrs. Heath rushed into the burning structure to pull him to safety despite injuries. The barn burned completely and the boy suffered severe burns.
An ambulance from Station 16 driven by Patrolman Green collided with a granite block on Harrison Avenue around 10 30. George Hayes of 1550 Tremont Street, suffering heart failure, was inside and badly shaken. Green was thrown clear. Hayes was treated at the hospital and expected to recover.
Pa trolman Patrick Mahoney of Division 4 chased a runaway horse nearly 200 yards and stopped it just as it neared a crowd on Albany street. The horse was attached to Kronchas Karakalas’s fruit wagon of 128 Commercial street, left near the railroad bridge on Bany street. Local forecast notes fair east for Boston and vicinity with Sunday partly cloudy and likely continued fair.
In Odessa on June 30 mutineers aboard the Kniaz Potemkin surrendered without resistance as Admiral Kruger’s five battleships and seven torpedo boats arrived. The Ekaterina II. will take a crew aboard and the vessel, along with the mutineers, is to Sebastopol.
Mutiny of bluejackets at Libau, Russia ends after parley with troops. Sailors surrender arms and return to duty with promise of better food. Cronstadt reports no further casualties as workmen strike continues.
A Daily Mail despatch from Odessa says the Kniaz Potemkin did not surrender and was joined by the battleship Genorgi Pobiedonosetz. Both ships anchor in the roads with searchlights on as a squadron 15 miles away threatens attack. The troops commander is ordered to sink the rebel ships regardless of bombardment.
Secretary of War William H. Taft led a prominent party including Congress members and Miss Alice Roosevelt aboard two special Chicago train cars toward the Philippine Islands. The trip, lasting about three months, will cover Manila, Tokyo visits, and negotiations on friar lands titles while seeking government subsidy arrangements for rail projects.
Angela Marciello a young Italian immigrant must return to Italy with her father after a special board of inquiry ruled she is too young to marry Antonio Popolo a North End naturalized Italian. Popolo plans to appeal to Washington claiming he paid travel costs and the girl’s father paid his own. Angela says she is 16 but appears under 13 to officials. She has not seen Antonio since age four or five though she was willing to marry him.
Mrs Martha Kennedy of Cambridge Street reported being held up at 12 30 this morning at West End Station 3 and robbed of 8 50. She described the suspect as about 25, 5 feet 7 inches tall, light complexion with red hair wearing a negligee shirt and soft hat. Doctors found no drugging evidence.
Reverend Henry J. Stone rushed from a town hall hearing of the Revere Board of Selectmen as the Law and Order League pressed for action over beach amusements. League members accused weekend operations of violating the law and licenses granted to previously convicted managers. Some Selectmen voiced concerns about unlawful enterprises and promised possible action.

John Hay born October 8 1838 in Salem Indiana rose to public prominence in 1861 as Lincoln's private secretary. He gained fame as a biographer of Lincoln after his death and later served as ambassador to the court of St James from March 16 1900 until his recall to become Secretary of State.
