Market Dull Then Slips. Steel and Rail Stocks Lead

Wall Street faced a dull and heavy day with a late turn to decline. Early trading saw traders gamble on Venezuelan negotiations while abundant money kept demand high for some issues. St Louis and San Francisco rallied on an alliance report with Southern railway, aiding Pittsburg accounts, while traction stocks and Metropolitan Street Railway weakened. Afternoon trading unsettled the market as Union Pacific and related shares fell on news of a snag in talks between executives and labor. Closing was weak.
