At 8 05 last evening Officer W W Chandler of Station 3 attempted to arrest George H Diamond for disorderly conduct near Nashua and Causeway streets. A crowd of ruffians formed as Albert Lowney led the assault, took Chandler's night club, and Diamond fired wounding the officer. Chandler regained his feet and pursued, but the mob forced him down again. Diamond seized the revolver and wounded Chandler in the arm while fracturing the shoulder blade. Officers Gray arrived and arrested Lowney and Diamond as the mob dispersed. Chandler received head injuries and other wounds but survived. both attackers were injured and previously jailed on Charles Street.
