Charles Olsen, arrested for drunkenness at 2:40 pm, attempted suicide in Station 6 custody by hanging from a cell crosspiece. Officers cut him down, he battered his head on the wall, and he tried to swallow a pants buckle. He was restrained with a straitjacket and taken to the Tombs.
