Fire damages Boston brewery stock and machinery

The Brewery treasurer estimated about 100000 dollars in stock and machinery losses. Fire officials put potential losses around 80000 dollars. The fire began at 645 pm when 11 year old Fred Meagher saw smoke from the bottling room and alerted bookkeeper Miss Jessie Sutherland. District Chief Mulligan ordered a second alarm to protect the storage shed and nearby homes. The blaze cut power to the district, candles substituted for light, and Edison crews repaired the outage.
