Move for a new trial in Guiteau case outlined

Washington on January 25 Mr Scoville announced plans to file a motion for a new trial Saturday arguing the jury erred against the law and evidence and that the judge did not base charges on all the facts He said an en banc appeal would follow if the motion fails citing newspaper reading by jurors and outside influence He forecast a letter from Guiteau and disputed expert testimony as grounds for relief and noted comments on the trial’s heated atmosphere and record matters to be used in court arguments

Result of the Investigation of the Spuyten Duyvil Disaster

The piece argues officers and employés of the Board are responsible for the loss of life and that Guiteau has not had a fair trial. It claims Washington opinion favors a fair trial for justice, condemning the prosecution's methods and warnings that the verdict may not reflect the truth.
