Better Pay for Troops Bill Wins Action
Mayor Curley spearheaded a House rules committee approval for a measure ensuring State troops receive at least the same pay as in State service when serving under the federal government. The bill would have the State cover differences if federal pay lags, with a separate order to audit historical State expenditures from 1860 to 1916. The session also advanced a tunnel project for East Boston, and left actions on minor employment and Hopkinton swimming pool bills undecided while enabling Ways and Means to pursue cost-saving measures.
