Valencia wreck off Cape Beale strands 30 passengers
In Victoria British Columbia on January 24 a storm stranded the Valencia on reefs south of Cape Beale. Thirty passengers mostly women clung to the wreck at night while large waves washed over. Rescue efforts by tug Czar steamer Queen and wrecking Salvor failed due to rough seas. about 45 of 94 passengers and crew of 60 are believed saved.
