Metropolitan Railroad seeks capital increase and bond plan
The Boston Post reports the Metropolitan Railroad petitioning to raise capital from 1,950,000 to 2,500,000 to cover the expansion. A Jewell drafted bill would authorize the increase and permit bonds or stock to cover it, freeing the road from debt. Other committee notes cover agriculture, insurance, banking, and a Portland and Ogdensburg Rail Road meeting with earnings and construction figures. A theft-related sequence follows with a Cincinnati draft case, a prison stabbing, and several other local crimes including false pretenses and larcenies.
