Embassy accounts note $2000 paid to Von Papen shortly after the Vanceboro explosion to aid in Horn’s defence. Miss Burger denies she suffered a breakdown and signs a pact to keep the case out of court. The agreement aims to settle the dispute without a conventional judicial ruling.
