Unsuccessful launch of Merchants and Miners' Kershaw steamer
The Merchants and Miners' Transportation Company failed to launch the new steamer Kershaw at Wilmington Delaware on Saturday as the hull refused to move after the wedges were driven and stays sawed due to a flooded cradle. A second launch attempt is planned during the week with Captain March likely to command. The Kershaw is a sister ship to Nantucket and similar to Harvard and Juniata, with three more new steamers expected afterward.
